It’s the thing we’re not supposed to talk about, but comes up in some way almost everyday!

Do you feel disheartened on payday because you feel like most of it is going out of the door? Are you and your partner frequently at odds because you disagree on how to spend money? Do your bank statements tend to reflect your mood more than your actual budget?

You frequently obsess over your spending and saving and vow to make a change...and vow it will be different this time? But every time you try a budget tool or app, you end up feeling deprived and ashamed of your spending habits.

Most of us have a complicated relationship with money and like all complicated relationships, it’s easy to focus on the good parts and ignore the hard part.

But it IS possible to feel empowered in your relationship with money!

Together, we’re going to put pen to paper and honestly look at your current money plan and figure out what’s working, what’s not, what we can change and what we can’t and ultimately have a plan that’s aligned with what you value in life.

I understand the hesitation, believe me. The biggest difference is that our budget will be based on what you value about yourself and in your life. My goal is to teach you how to manage your money without feeling deprived.

  • You could know your monthly income and expenses without spending hours scouring through bank statements so that you can rest assured that your needs are covered without any surprise charges or fees

  • You can set a goal to buy a car, take a trip or build emergency savings without feeling deprived and instead enjoy your everyday life while staying motivated to work towards your goal

  • You could manage difficult emotions and stress without turning to shopping or spending and stay present with friends and family

  • Share reaching your financial goals with a group of like-minded people without fear of judgment and stay motivated to reach higher goals

  • You could set boundaries with people in your life around money and NOT feel the need to apologize for your successes, challenges and priorities

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR MONEY

I’m guessing your heart just dropped into your stomach reading that, but hear me out!

I tend to like rules...maybe it’s the oldest child in me, the peacemaker or the former accountant in me...Either way, I believed that following rules was the best way to get what you need.  I admit it was a bit naive, but hey, it was the 80’s!

Money was something that I never learned about growing up.  It was something that adults took care of and children shouldn’t worry about.  Cool! So, my parents managed the finances and I was able to blissfully think that as long as I followed the rules, in my case, study hard and go to college, I would find a job that I love that would pay me what I wanted and live happily ever after.

Then reality hit...and by reality, I mean student loans...and the job that I didn’t love that didn’t pay me what I wanted.  Whenever I tried to follow popular budgeting and finance books during that time, I felt like I couldn’t relate to them at all!

My money story changed once I stopped focusing solely on dollars and cents and instead on what I wanted from my life.  I reflected on my values and what was important for me.  I still had financial goals (pay off debt, save for retirement or a house), but also gave myself permission to enjoy life as a 20-something, despite having student loan debt... despite not having six months of an emergency fund.  I wanted to have impromptu dinners with friends, make my apartment feel comfy, cozy and a place of rest and maybe even (gasp!) go on a vacation.  But most importantly, I wanted to STOP feeling guilty or ashamed that I was not in the same financial position as others.

I’m so excited to serve people who are overwhelmed and have no idea how to make long-lasting changes. We will learn together about what has contributed to your story and what actionable changes you can make to write a new one!

Blueprint is an eight-week group coaching that will help you make financial decisions based on your core values and create a budget and set goals that are meaningful for you and exciting to follow.

How is BLUEPRINT different from typical BOOKS AND PROGRAMS ABOUT budgeting?

I get this question literally everyday.  I know you’ve been bombarded with different types of financial advice, money challenges, budgeting guides...and have you checked IG lately?

And I’m also assuming something about those things just didn’t click with you.  They can seem restrictive and isolating. And we all know, the more we’re told what we can’t do, the more we think about doing it. When we feel deprived, it is natural to try and regain a sense of control. This is where Blueprint comes in.

Our relationship with money is emotional, pure and simple.  The problem is that most information about money management and financial literacy talks about what you need to STOP doing instead of what you need to START doing to feel empowered.

Blueprint will help to understand what has impacted your relationship with money in the past and give real-time practice building a budget that you actually want to follow.

At the end of these eight weeks, you will have a meaningful budget (or blueprint!) to use based on your current financial state as well as actionable goals moving forward.  You will also have begun building your accountability team, a group of trusted professional and personal people who will help you stay on track with your goals!
